DRC was founded in 1978 as California’s Protection & Advocacy, Inc. The organization’s named changed to Disability Rights California in 2008 as a result of an effort by the Board of Directors to more accurately describe DRC’s work. Today, DRC is the largest disability advocacy agency in the nation with 220 staff members.
