The Maryland Legal Services Corporation, established in 1982 by the Maryland General Assembly, is a nonprofit organization governed by a nine-member Board of Directors appointed by the Governor and confirmed by the Senate.

MLSC distributes funds from the Interest on Lawyer Trust Accounts (IOLTA) program and other sources to nonprofit organizations for the provision of civil legal services to low-income Marylanders. MLSC currently provides funding to 35 nonprofit grantees throughout Maryland to ensure that eligible clients in all areas of the state have access to legal assistance.
