Sharon L. Browne was nominated to serve on the Board of Directors of the Legal Services Corporation by President Barack Obama on December 17, 2009, and her nomination was confirmed by the U.S. Senate on March 19, 2010.
Ms. Browne most recently was a principal attorney in the Pacific Legal Foundation’s Individual Rights Practice group and a member of the Foundation’s senior management. She joined Pacific Legal Foundation as a staff attorney following law school in 1985. From 1991-1995, she was a senior trial attorney with the public issues law firm of Zumbrun, Best & Findley where she specialized in land use and education law. She returned to the Pacific Legal Foundation in 1995.
Ms. Browne has also served as an adjunct professor at the University of the Pacific McGeorge School of Law from 1995-2000. Ms. Browne was named a California Lawyer of the Year in 2004 in the area of Government/Public Policy. Ms. Browne has numerous published articles including an article in the University of Miami Law Review (2009) and the Pepperdine Law Review (1994).
From 2007 to 2011, Ms. Browne served on the California Advisory Committee to the U.S. Commission on Civil Rights. She is currently on the Executive Committee for the Federalist Society’s Civil Rights Practice Group
