After repeated requests to be re-enrolled in traditional high school courses, Roblero is suing the Palm Beach County School District in federal court, claiming its treatment of him violated federal civil rights protections and Florida law.
The suit, filed on Roblero’s behalf by the Legal Aid Society of Palm Beach County, comes on the heels of the U.S. Department of Justice warning the school district that it has found evidence of county schools “impeding” immigrant students trying to enroll in school and pursue traditional studies.
Despite repeated warnings from federal officials, the school district “continues to engage in an ongoing practice of national origin discrimination,” alleges Roblero’s lawsuit, which was filed last month.
