Organizations mentioned/involved: Community Legal Aid Society (Delaware)

One of the state’s most innovative programs was not mentioned but is worth noting. Community Legal Aid Society, Inc. (CLASI) and the Delaware Division of Public Health (DPH) have partnered to establish a Medical-Legal Partnership (MLP) to benefit low income pregnant and postpartum women throughout Delaware.

DPH operates several programs to benefit high risk pregnant and postpartum women throughout the state – Healthy Women Healthy Babies (HWHB), and the Nurse Family Partnership/Home Visiting Program (NFP/HV) chief among them. HWHB provides prenatal and postnatal care and support services to low income pregnant women through health centers, and NFP/HV provides care, support, and education to first-time low income mothers in their own homes.
