When I share that comment with Trish McAllister, head of the Texas Access to Justice Commission and a key person in this saga, she is surprised.
“What? This has nothing to do with politics. For him to raise the issue of liberal or conservative has nothing to do with the rule of law. He needs to look at history. This country was founded on the notion that everybody should be able to get into court regardless of your ability to pay.
“There’s a recognition that abuse of power comes into play when people can’t access the court system.”
