DETAILS

Indiana has begun to smooth the path to re-entry by enacting a law that allows some ex-offenders to expunge past convictions — removing them from records available to employers and others. This tool is key for many ex-offenders and opens the door for their success.

Last year, Indiana Legal Services received more than 600 requests to assist with expungements and approximately 500 requests to assist in obtaining specialized driver’s licenses, which are essential for many ex-offenders to find and retain employment.
