Legal Aid of North Carolina gets 48 percent of its funding from Legal Services, according to George Hausen, the agency’s executive director.

That amounts to $10 million to $11 million out of a $22 million budget, he said. The agency has 150 lawyers, including 130 who work full-time, across North Carolina. Nearly 4 million people are eligible for Legal Aid’s services, Hausen said.

“Those people would have nowhere to go,” he said.
