The proposed funding cut is devastating to their operation and would reduce the number of residents they serve by 15,000 and further necessitate the termination of 50 staff members. The federal government is simultaneously proposing cuts to legal funding that could mean an additional reduction of $6.6 million in funding.

I have met with many residents who are facing improper evictions, illegal foreclosures, loss of access to social programs and who are victims of crimes. Many residents, often disadvantaged, are left deprived of their due process and face traumatic and life-altering consequences caused by lack of proper legal representation.
