While stay-at-home measures may help “flatten the curve” of new COVID-19 cases, they also pose a unique threat to people in abusive relationships: How do you stay home when home is not a safe place to stay? Legal experts worry not only that stress at home can lead to increase instances of violence, but that court closures and other limitations on access are posing barriers for people who need legal protection from their abusers.
