DETAILS
The Federal Government passed the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security Act or the CARES Act which will expand unemployment insurance to help those affected by COVID-19. This can all be rather confusing, so we turned to Kevin De Liban, an attorney with Legal Aid of Arkansas, to answer some questions about the CARES Act, and other ways people can get assistance. DeLiban says, once you lose your job, the most important thing is to apply right away. Be prepared to be patient. Persist. Don’t give up – ever – during any of this. It’s going to to be supremely frustrating. We know that. Think in terms of things going wrong, and you need to be able to prove what you did. Document everything. Take screenshots if necessary.
