Welcoming our Newest Voices Team Member

March 12, 2019 - 3:31 pm

We are excited to share this introductory message from the newest member of our team, Media Relations Manager Sam Scarrow.

Hello, everyone! I’m thrilled to have the chance to work with each of you and am honored to have the responsibility and opportunity to elevate the civil justice crisis in our national discourse.

Sam Scarrow headshot croppedIf my name seems familiar, you have a good memory! From 2015 to 2017, I worked with Voices in my role at BerlinRosen Public Affairs. BerlinRosen has been Voices’ media consultant firm of record from the beginning, and they are active members of our team. At BerlinRosen, I was involved in planning and executing some of Voices’ most significant media moments, including studies on eviction in Baltimore, the right to counsel movement in NYC, lead paint abatement in Chicago, the legal needs of veterans, and – who could forget? – the Oklahoman miniature horse, featured on the front page of the New York Times as part of a story that looked at the potential impact of eliminating LSC from the federal budget.

All of that’s to say I’m familiar with the contours of the civil justice crisis, what civil legal aid is, and why we need it to have a just society. I am excited to learn even more from each of you as we work to tell that story to the audiences who still need to hear it.

Do you have an idea for a media pitch or op-ed? Or maybe your organization is working on a report you could use help publicizing? Reach out to me at scarrow@voicesforciviljustice.org, or the whole staff at team@voicesforciviljustice.org. We would love to work with you.
